Title Second Assistant Analyst. Not over 27 years of age Must be an associate or fellow of the Institute of Chemistry in branch E (analysis of food and drugs). The selected candidate must be unmarried. The duties will consist ofgeneral analytical work including the sampling of metals &c. Shall be under the erdere of the Principal Civil Hedical Officer.
£360 rising to £420 yearly by two triennial increases of £30 together with a travelling allowance of thirty dollars (Mex.) per month.

Free first-class passage to Hongkong by steam- -er other than mail, and from Hongkong at end of three years if conduct satisfactory and agreement terminated.

useful for the information of candi- dates.

The person sent out must agree to serve for 3 years, after which if the Government desire to retain his services he may be taken on to the permanent staff, should there be a vacancy thereon.In case of his leaving of his own accord or on account of dismissal before the termination of his agreement, the passége money paid for the voyage to Hongkong must be -refunded. If taken on to the permanent and
pensionable establishment his salary will be subject to a deduction of four per cent per annum towards the Widows and Orphans Fund and the right to a free return passage to England will be cancelled.
